( Genesis 15:18 KJV ) “In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram ( Abraham ), saying, Unto thy Seed have I Given this Land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:”!!
Good evening, friends, brothers and sisters. I have good news! Today we’re one day closer to the return of King Jesus than we were yesterday! One day, probably soon, but even if it’s a long time coming by our standards, it will still be soon!
King Jesus told His disciples what things would be like in the end times. He said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near!” (Luke 21:28)
Jesus gave a sign that the disciples and generations after did not live to see – but we have seen it! It’s the sign of the “budding fig tree”. In Scripture, Israel is often described as a fig tree. After the Roman destruction of Israel in AD70, Israel did not exist as a nation until 1948. Israel, as prophesied in Isaiah 66:8, “became a nation born in a day”. After nearly 2,000 of the Diaspora, God drew His Chosen People back to their land!
Then in1967, the “Six Day War”, in an awesome military triumph that shocked the world, “Israel defeated the Arab armies and captured the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, the Golan Heights from Syria and the West Bank from Jordan. The new cease-fire lines were easier for Israel to defend as most of them stretched along geographical barriers such as the Jordan River and the Suez Canal and because they provided strategic depth.”
(From https://www.mfa.gov.il/mfa/aboutisrael/maps/pages/june%2010-%201967-%20israel%20after%20the%20six%20day%20war.aspx)
The fig tree has long since budded. Listen to what King Jesus said about that event:
“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” (Matthew 24:32-34)
The same statement is recorded in Mark 13:28-30 and Luke 21:29-32. Repetition is emphasis.
What is near? “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” All those things described by Jesus in the conversation reported in those three places. Which means the Great Tribulation and all that comes with it and immediately before it.
Kristi, thank you for always welcoming and loving your brothers and sisters in Christ. Your attitude shows visitors what King Jesus is like, And one who has seen Jesus has also seen God the Father, Who sent jesus to die for our sins.
I’m very late getting here tonight, but maybe someone with insomnia will read these words…
“Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?’ ”
What is Jesus like? He’s not an angry God ready to rain down punishment on those who displease Him. He will if we leave Him no other choice, but God’s patience is long for those who are not defiant toward Him.
1st John 1:9 says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
There are six very important words in that verse: confess, faithful, just, forgive, cleanse, all.
“IF we confess our sins” – because, as verse 10 says, “if we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” Romans 3:23 says it very plainly: “… or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”
If we confess our sins, He is faithful…”All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37) You have the promise of King Jesus Himself – if you come to Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, there’s no way He will reject you.
When Jesus was crucified, there were two thieves crucified with Him …
“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: ‘Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!’
But the other criminal rebuked him. ‘Don’t you fear God,’ he said, ‘since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.’
Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’
Jesus answered him, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.’ ”
(Luke 23:39-43)
This thief had nothing to offer. It was too late for him to promise to reform. He didn’t know the right words for a formal profession of faith or a formal request for forgiveness.
But King Jesus, in spite of His agony, made the effort to reassure this thief that he had been heard and his ignorant, desperate faith, if you could even call it faith, was enough. This thief had confessed his sins and the justice of God. In his agony, he “came to Jesus, and the One Who had come to die for him did not reject him.
You don’t have to be good to be saved. On the contrary, you have to agree with God that you are a sinner in desperate need of a Savior. Agree, and then, instead of justice, ask the God of Creation for mercy in Jesus’ holy name. He will not reject you. No way.
In John chapter 7, Jesus had gone to the Temple for the “Festival of Tabernacles”, which celebrates the harvest season and the Exodus from Egypt, both joyous occasions. Jesus began teaching the people, which it seems He loved to do. But the Pharisees began hassling Him, getting uglier and uglier. Jesus stood up to them and embarrassed them so much that they actually sent guards to arrest Him.
The guards came back without Him, har har! When the angry Pharisees demanded to know why, the guards replied, “No one ever spoke the way this man does!” I’m on the verge of laughing out loud as I write this. 😀 😀 That’s my King!
So the next day (John 8) the Pharisees set up some poor woman who had been caught in adultery – “in the act” they declared – and made her stand before the group. They were happy to humiliate someone if it would help them get rid of King Jesus. They pointed out that the Law of Moses required that she be stoned. Demanded of Jesus what He said.
They hoped that He’d demand strict application of the Law, and the crowd would abandon Him. Or that He’d say let her go, and they’d denounce Him for not approving the Law.
The man was not there. According to the Law, he was supposed to be stoned too. That’s how we know this woman was set up. He was a willing player in this heartless game.
But instead of replying, Jesus bent down and began writing in the dirt with His finger. When they pressed Him to answer, “When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, ‘Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.’ ”
This time, when He stooped down and began writing, they left. Why? The words used seem to indicate that what Jesus was writing was a list of the sins of the Pharisees confronting Him. Colossians 2:14 talks about “the handwriting of ordinances that was against us. which He “took away … nailing it to the cross”.
But the real drama occurred when they left:
“At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’
‘No one, sir,’ she said.
‘Then neither do I condemn you,’ Jesus declared. ‘Go now, and leave your life of sin.’ ”
This is the gentle, courteous, understanding treatment those who come to Jesus admitting their sins receive. He is not interested in humiliating us. He does not want to punish us. He wants to forgive us, if we only agree with Him that we are sinners and we need a Savior.
There was a phrase used in baptism when I was very young – “Buried with Christ in baptism; raised to walk with Him in newness of life.”
We don’t ask forgiveness of our sins so we can go on sinning and still go to Heaven when we die. We come to Jesus for forgiveness of our sins AND for a new life, in which God will begin to make us more like Jesus!
A new life … lived by the power of the Holy Spirit Whom we receive when we come to God. That’s what it means to be “born again”!
I’d ask for a show of hands, but I can’t see your hands. But this invitation is open to everyone who has not yet received Jesus. Receive Him now and find out how incredible, how wonderful it is t be a forgiven sinner living a new life!
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2nd Corinthians 5:17)
I like those verses telling us to rejoice! Years ago, reading the Old Testament, I discovered what was surprising to me at the time. I had always thought of Judaism as a grim, demanding, boring religion. But when you read about the feasts of the Jews, you discover that they were commanded to rejoice! Many times, not just once! The Holy One of Israel wanted them to be happy!
He wants us to be happy, too, to the extent we can in our circumstances. And He is able to give us cause for rejoicing in and in spite of unpleasant circumstances.
When King Jesus sent the seventy disciples out on an evangelistic tour by themselves, to prepare them for when He would no longer be with them and they would have to do it all on their own, they came back rejoicing because, they said, “Even the demons obey us when we command them in Your name!”
Jesus replied, “I saw satan fall from Heaven like lightning! But don’t rejoice because the demons obey you. Rejoice because your names are written in Heaven!”
I love that quote from Habakkuk. That stubborn determination makes me want to stand up and cheer and shout Hallelujah! We will persevere. When there’s no reason for hope, we have a hope that will not make us ashamed. When we’re exhausted, we are just at the beginning of the strength of the Holy Spirit.
We will not quit. We will not be ashamed of the One Who died for us. We will not be bribed or intimidated or in any other way turned aside from following our God and Savior!
It’s good to see that you’re still “flying the flag”, Kristi. We’re very near to the return of King Jesus to remove His Church. We’re “in the end zone”! We’re almost home:
Life is a lot like one of those old “good news / bad news” jokes. We often don’t know immediately what’s good news and what’s bad news. Examples:
My favorite creamery stopped production of their organic, pasture-fed, no-GMO, no antibiotics milk forever a few weeks back. The milk their cows produced tasted so good that I undoubtedly drank too much. I used to have 16 ounces of it every morning with Carnation Breakfast Essentials for a fast but very nutritious breakfast. Also drank a glass or two as a nightcap. But they’re out of business, and the four other brands I tried didn’t taste good enough. Alas. Bad news!
So, when my fridge quit two days ago, there wasn’t two or three gallons of expensive milk there to spoil. Good news!
I looked for a used fridge at the Restore. Only one acceptable fridge, and it was cheap, but it was older than mine and had been abused. No guarantee. Pick up and install yourself, and my knees and back aren’t up to that. And I’d have had to rent a truck and an appliance dolly … Alas! Bad news!
So I looked at Home Depot, no luck. Went to Lowe’s and if the paperwork goes through, I’ll have a NEW though 20% smaller fridge in the next 5-6 days. Delivered free! Good news!
God’s timing is perfect. His ways are good for us. Thank You, Abba, for Your wisdom and for always keeping track of us and our needs, present or future!
So many wonderful encouraging promises that belong to us. Thank you for choosing to follow my blog, I pray it can be just as encouraging to you as we pray together for the peace of Israel.
You’re welcome. I’m glad to see you online! I was wondering if you were OK. I know you enjoyed being busy on your site. 🙂 That was always a joy to me when I was writing for a blog.
I’ve had an easy day today. There was a conference at the site I work, and I ate free today from the oversupply for that.

Kristi, I remember reading that if we hadn’t had transcripts of the New Testament books handed down, we could still recreate most of the New Testament from quotes in letters that believers wrote to other believers and unbelieving friends and family. I smile thinking of that, because your posts seem to average enough Scripture for about twenty-seven sermons per post! LOL! It’s beautiful to see. You are spreading the Word massively, and “His word will not return to Him void, but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it!”
I don’t know if we will ever fully comprehend God’s love for us.
One of the things God can not do is lie. When we read His promises, then we are reading what we would call in human terms guarantees. But they are more certain than any guarantee of human origin. More certain than the laws of physics. God’s promises to those who believe in His Son Jesus, who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, are incredible. And as Scripture says, there is nothing that can separate us from His love.
In Revelation 3:14-22, the lukewarm church, Laodicea, was told, “Because you are neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.” But King Jesus went on to tell the Laodicean Church what they needed to do to avoid being ashamed in His presence. And He told even this church, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
That’s astonishing, incredible, love! Shocking love! “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne!” There is no love like this in all of history!
And King Jesus follows that loving invitation and reassurance by extending that offer to “whosoever will”: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” To whoever hears. Whoever is outside the church. Spiritual wanderers. Totally lost men and women. Reprobates.. Evil people. Perverts. Just repent, and come to Jesus for forgiveness, new life, salvation, and a bright, fantastic future in Heaven for eternity!
For those who are about 50 and under, you may not remember clothes whose colors faded after many washings. I remember them.
Isaiah 1:18 says, ” ‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow! Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool!’ ”
In Isaiah’s day too, the colors of clothing faded in the wash – except for those dyed with scarlet or crimson! They were “fast” dyes! You could not wash them out no matter how hard you tried. So what God is saying here is, “If you can’t get rid of your sins, if you can’t stop sinning, do not worry! I can cleanse you from it! Just come to me!”
1st John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Hallelujah!

“Lamb of God” is a strong but sweet song.

The rumors are true- God forgives!
