It’s a good thing you are a Christian, Kristi, because everything else is about to fall apart. You don’t want politics here, so I’ll say no more, but events are moving faster.
We seem to be at the beginning of the Great Tribulation. Jesus said of that time, “If those days were not shortened, there would be no flesh saved.” Those are the literal words. So if any of us are tempted to compromise our faith to stay alive or for a convenience, we need to remember: there’s no significant advantage to living longer at this time. We need to remind ourselves before it happens: “I will not compromise my faith. I will not deny the Lord Who saved me. The devil has nothing to offer but a few more days of misery.”
On the other hand, there is this powerful encouragement:
“”So do not throw away your confidence! It will be richly rewarded! You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, ‘In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.’ ” (Hebrews 10:35-37)
It may be that here in America and other Western nations we will begin to suffer persecution for our faith. It was to those who had suffered greatly that those words were written. We must fix in our minds that however long or harsh our path, we have a responsibility to be a light to the darkened world. Even in this age of hardened hearts and a tidal wave of lies, we may be the light that leads some to our Savior. And if not, we still owe King Jesus a faithful witness. Remember Job! Remember the martyr Stephen!
We can find strength in the Word of God. Hebrews chapters 10 and 11 can help us prepare our hearts for what is coming. And we can also pray for the Rapture. Nothing wrong with that!
I have another thought on praying for the Rapture. Remember that when God came down to judge Sodom and Gomorrah, He said it was because ” the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous”. So when we pray, let us lift up to the throne of God Almighty all the things we hear and read about the evil that is being done. Maybe that will hasten the Rapture. I don’t know that. It’s just an idea I have.
