“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” (Hebrews 2:9-10)
The trouble with trying to pay for our own sins is that we have a sinful nature that we can’t control. Not only do we have to pay the penalty for our sins of the past, we have to be able to stop sinning. We cam’t do that. People want to pretend they are good, as Sprugeon pointed out. But sooner or later the sin nature in each of us rises up and hutts, damages, and kills. We have to be born again:
“Jesus answered, ‘Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.’ ” (John 3:5-8)
Nicodemus asked how that was possible, but it wasn’t yet possible, so Jesus gave Nicodemus a clue, a code, (in bold above) which would alert him to the second birth, the spiritual birth. And when it came, it was unmistakable:
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2: 1-4)
OPerer explained what the devout Jews present were seeing and quoted the prophecy of Joel which predicted it. THen Peter told them how to be spiritually born again:
“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’ Then Peter said unto them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.‘ ” (Acts 2:37-38)) (HOly Ghost = Holy Spirit)
The indwelling Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17) helps us begin the process of becoming transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. When we stand inside God’s Kingdom, He will complete the process!

I doubt that America will ever be GODLY again, but there is another America – the one that will appear in the Restoration! That’s the best of this America amplified and purified. I’ll be glad to get there! In the meantime, we have our memories of the best days of the greatest nation that has ever seen the light of day. And we will glorify the God Who caused America to be born, not only for the privilege we have had of living in America, but for the cettain knowledge that His Kgindom will be joy beyond everything we have experienced onthis earth!

I came across something in the Old Testament that reminded me of your psoting 2 Chronicles 7:14so often. THis “Make America Godly Again” post is very similar.
The prophet Samuel described what’s needed very specifically:
1 Samuel 12:14-15:
“If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God: but if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers.”
I know that’s what you mean, Kristi, when you quote 2 Chronicles 7:14. Samuel just stated it in a litttle more detail. It’s not only apoligizing to God. It’s turning away from sins and beginning to learn again how to live godly lives. For a national revival, it has to come from both citizens and leaders, and it has to involve a very high percentage of both, judging from Old Testament examples. That doesn’t happen easily. Nations have to get slammed hard before that degree of repentance and obedience happens.
America is probably going to get slammed hard very soon. We can hope that leads to national repentance. Time will tell. But thank you, Kristi, for sounding the call to true revival many times. We who visit here regularly are your witnesses that you have borne faithful witness to all who read your posts of all things concerning salvation, repentance, and forgiveness of sins. May God be with you and give you peace and joy all the days of your life, and a rich reward in the life to come. The crown of life (Revelation 2:10) awaits you, and many other rewards and blessings, in God’s Kingdom, Lady. You have blessed your nation with your fauthfulness to our God.

When we contemplate jusgt the world God created, how beautiful, complex, harmonious it is even in its fallen state (where humans have not marred it) it becomes very easy to praise God.
Then moving on to God’s love for us, which we don’t have to earn, and His plan for our salvation in spite of our deeply sinful condition, even though it cost His only begotten Son Jesus terrible pain … intense gratitude as well as praise are almost involuntary responses.
Thank You, Heavenly Father and King Jesus, for doing for us what we never could have done. Thank You for the promise of total and permanent cleasnig from our sins and unbroken joy with You in Your Kingdom forever.

I see a new “feature” here. The “Reply” button has been changed to “Reply Report”. I hope that’s report to you, Kristi, and not to google or wordpress or some other external entity. Cynic that I am, I wonder what purpose is behind that. If you added that feature, Kristi, that’s a different story. No problem if the report is to you. But I suspect it’s another tool for hostile entities to snoop on people who express thoughts unacceptable to the powers that are trying to take total control over us all.
