Slavation by failth alone, specifically excluding works, is an example of the kind heart of God. Imagine being graded for salvation. Someone who was born to devout Christian parents, attended a Christian school, married a Christian spouse, attended a church where the Bible was clearly taught, always had Christian small-group support, lived in a nation where Christianity was not under attack – this person looks shiny and bright! Wow! Has no significant sins on his / her record. Has never doubted God in the least. Why would he /she? They never faced the storms of life.
Now picture someone like an uncle of mine who was orphaned at an early age, separated from his brothers and sisters, grew up in a rough neighborhood, in the words of Johnny Cash’s old son had to “get tough or die”, joined the Navy i WW2 and suffered a head injury that left him too restless to stay naywhere long enough to put down roots, had very little skill at anything … at his funeral, the best the preacher could say was, “We could wish he had left a better testimony.”
But in the only way he knew, he had turned his life over to God sometime in his youth. He just never was able to accomplish anything like being a witness to Jesus. He didn’t know how. Hadn’t had instruction or encouragement.
So type number 1 could smirk and say, “I was so good I earned my salvation!” And my uncle would have had to hang his head and try to sneak in without being noticed.
BUT PRAISE GOD! Our salvation is FREE! So Mr. Squeaky-Clean and my uncle can go dancing into God’s Kingdom shouting HALLELUJAH! and no one will sneer at either of them.
Rewards are earned. And they are earned based on abilities PLUS opportunities PLUS our strength, our effort, what we had to fight to earn them. So my uncle may be walking around Heaven now with several crowns and a heap of rewards. Because his language was always clean, he was always faithful to his wife, he never abused his chidren, he loved them all and showed it, he took whatever work he could instead of making his wife shoulder the whole load … I could go on.
God is just! God is good!

“And JESUS Came and Spake unto them, Saying, All Power is Given unto ME in Heaven and in Earth. Go ye therefore, and Teach All Nations, Baptizing them in the Name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST” (Matthew 28:18-20)
The word translated “power” in that verse is “exousia” in the Greek. It means “authority”. So if God calls someone to be a witness for Him in, for example, a closed nation or a location that denies the right to proclaim Jesus, the called person is to obey his or her calling. That person has the AUTHORITY, from King Jesus Himself. (Just make sure it’s Him calling you, not your own mind manufacturing the “call”.)
After begin forbidden by the Sanhedrin to preach in the name of Jesus, the disciples (having just been miraculously freed from jail) answered bluntly, “We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” (Acts 5:29-32)

God had a really, really good idea when He created women. Ladies, all of you, you make men’s lives more interesting (that’s putting it mildly!) and more bearable. Men, remember to honor your wives and treat all women with respect.
Probably everyone who visits here knows the Bible account of God’s creation of Eve from one of Adam’s ribs. I went to a creation / evolution debate on a college campus once, and some wag had gotten into the room before the debate began. He had printed on the huge blackboard, “Eve was a prime rib!”
