   • The Greek word translated “power” in Matthew 28:18 is “exousia”, meaning authority. In other words, King Jesus, having completed His rescue mission of all souls on earth who recevie Him as Lord and Savior, now had the authority to command the disciples to teach all nations, and baptize those who accept the Gospel in the name opf the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

     This was important, because previously Jesus had sent His disciples only to Israel:
     “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 10:5-6)

     Previously Jesus’ mission had been oly to Israel. When Gentiles wanted something from Him, they had to present their request through a Jew ish custom (Matthew 15:22-28; the Canaanite woman who appealed to a Jewish custom) or through a Jew. (Like 7:1-10; the centurion spoken for by “the elders of the Jews”)

     So this is where the mission widened to its full imtended extent:
     “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2)

    • “secure the blessings of liberty to oueselves and out posterity”… that worked well, but the morality of our leaders and of millions of US citizens US has declined severely. Sins have piled up. God is not pleased with us, and the devil is laughing.

      Christians’ lives are lived in two worlds at present. The world of faith can sometimes seem dim, shadowy, almost mythical at times. But when things get tough, we need to remember that this life is not our real life. We need to focus more on King Jesus, God the Father, and the written Word of God. We need to just hang on, pray more, rfead and study and editate on the Bible..

      Most of us in Amerca haven’t suffered persecution. According to the US Power Outage site, almost 400,000 people are without power. They definite;y need our prayers. And let’s all send up a prayer for Kristi too, that she stays warm and safe and that her physical condition doesn’t worsen.

      There’s another winter super storm coming this weekend to the Southern US. Forecast is as much as a foot of snow. Pray for those of us who are in the path of this storm.

      What does God’s Word say to us with junk like this happening? I wish I had befter news, but this will have to do: after describing severe persecution suffered by some believers, the Author of Hebrews wrote this:
      “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” (Hebrews 10:35-37)

      Call the current trials practice for what’s coming if the Lotd does not return soon. THe prize is worth the trouble.
