Thank you, Kristi, for your faithfulness to God, King Jesus, and God’s Word.
Some may find Spurgeon’s sermons old-fashioned, but as far as I know, he always stayed true to God’s Word. That is becoming increasingly hard to find. Better “old-fashioned” preaching of the Word than “modern” heresies!
“There is a Redeemer” is a spiritually beautiful song, and a favorite of mine. As I waswriting to friends a few nights ago, the words “Holy One” came to my mind. I could hear the accompanying music in my mind, but couldn’t remember which song the words and tune were part of. So I googled “lyrics + Holy One” and within the first few hits, there it was!

Charles Spurgeon is one of my favorite preachers. I have many of his sermons and his “Treasury of David” which is a wonderful commentary on the Psalms.

Kristi, I have to laugh! I realized something so profound about a graphic you posted above. The one that says, “Jesus is the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost”.
My thought when I first saw this was, “No it’s not. They have separate name.” But when you find a puzzle in Scripture, if you dig around a little in the Word, you may find a gem!
Tonight for some reason I decided to do a little digging regarding that graphic, and realized that I have known since I was a child what makes that saying true.
Matthew 1:20-21 says, “But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.’ ”
OK, that’s obvious. “Jesus” means “Savior, Redeemar”. So how is that the same as Jehovah, Adonai, etc,? Howe is that the same as “Holy Ghost”?
Read verses 22 and 23:
“Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, ‘Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.’ ”
🙂 🙂 🙂 There’s the gem! Emmanuel, as the verse says, means “God with us”.
God the Father was in the world from the beginning. He was also with Abraham and Abraham’s descendants until Jesus was born. “God with us-the-Father”.
Jesus was with the Jews until His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension back into Heaven. “God with us-the-Son”. Because “I and the Father are one.”
Since Pentecost, the Holy Spirit has been with us, and indwelling those who are genuine believers in Jesus. “God with us-the Holy-Spirit”. Because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Jesus:
“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:6)
“For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” (1st Corinthians 2:11-12)
YES, Kristi and visitors, Jesus is the name pf the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, because Jesus’ name given by Isaiah the prophet is Emmanual, meaning “God with us”. And God has been with us since “In the beginning”.
