Thank you, Kristi, for this reminder of how important it is for those who are able to, to honor God on the Sabbath.
There’s a Scripture that I can’t find right now where God was about to bring judgment on Israel for their sins. But He sent the prophet with one last warning: “If you will just keep the Sabbath, I will turn away judgment from you.”
I can’t find a faithful church in my area. I spent a long time looking, visiting every one that I thought might have sound doctrine. I found none. They were all lukewarm or apostate or just “religious clubs”. One of the most significant reasons that America will suffer God’s wrath is because the men in the pulpit have turned “the Sabbath”, Sunday for most churches, into a joke.
But let us as individuals remember that we can keep our hearts in tune with God. Regardless of the spiritual condition of churches or nations, we are responsible for our own hearts and minds. When the world seems to be one big Sodom, remember these words of God as He was about to bring destruction on defiant and unrepentant Jerusalem:
“Then the Lord called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side and said to him, ‘Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it …’ God then instructed the angels who were about to carry out judgment, “Follow [the man who marked those people] through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark.”
The mark of the Beast is a mark of death, but God’s mark is a guarantee of God’s mercy.
Malachi has an even more encouraging word for faithful Christians today:
” Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. ‘On the day when I act,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.’ ” (Malachi 3:16-18)
Brothers and sisters, did you know that? If you are one who fears the Lord and talks about matters of faith from a clean heart with a genuine love for the Lord and His Word, if this world distresses you and you find peace and comfort in conversations with other genuine Christians, your name is on God’s scroll of remembrance! You will be His treasured possession! He said so Himself! And He wants you to know this and be encouraged by it. That’s why He had Malachi put it in His Word!

Kristi, you put so much effort into your posts! Even for someone without your staggering health problems, it would be a lengthy process and a drain on energy. I’m amazed that you are able to do it. I really like the graphic with “Shabbat Shalom” in it and the Hebrew words in Hebrew letters above it! The thought for Israel, the sense of the unknown of looking at letters from another alphabet that I have no understanding of – that especially gives me a sense of looking into another world!
I think the flowers are crocuses. Not sure, but they’re beautiful, and the perfect color choice to highlight the words. 🙂 🙂
Something has changed with WordPress. The 2nd and 3rd blank in the login nolonger autofill when I’ve typed in my email address and hit “tab”. It autofilled the bottom two boxes until a couple of days ago. I don’t care, as long as I can still post comments here. But when things change, I always suspect they’re abvout to change for the worse. If you notice that I’ve stopped commenting, it will be because WordPress cut me off.
