“The best law for bible study is the law of perseverance.” Right on, Kristi. EVery time I study the Bible (as opposed to just skimming through a part) I learn something. Lat night, for example:
I was reading a booklet in which the author listed the gifts of the Spirit. I came to “the gift of faith”, and I felt a nudge – I realized that when I recount some apparent impending disaster and another believer has replied, “God’s in control. Don’t worry”, in the past I have taken that as an indication of someone who is afraid to acknowledge trouble coming.
But last night that author and the Holy Spirit made me realize that I had been disrespectful to one of the essential gifts of the Spirit: the gift of faith. Given my practical nature, I view “trouble coming” as a call to find a solution, and I probably will still do so. BUT I will no longer regard with disdain those who HAVE THE GIFT OF FAITH ! Those brothers and sisters are just as important to the Body of Christ as any others. There faith is cause for applause, and not contempt.
Thank You, Abba! For Your incredible Word which never fails to teach, encourage, instruct, correct, and strengthen us when we give our attention to it!
