The Gaither song, “Alpha and Omega”, is enthusiastic about King Jesus too. Love it!
Jesus, Heaven’s Champion! The King of Kings didn’t send someone else to fight His battles for Him. He “killed his own snakes”, to use an old phrase which is very fitting, considering that King Jesus was opposed by “…that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.” (Revelation 12:9)
The late Chuck Missler pointed out that Jesus’ crucifixion wasn’t a defeat. It was an accomplishment! And (as Missler points out) Jesus was in control the entire time. It was Jesus revealing at the Last Supper that He knew Judas’ intentions which forced Judas in a panic to run to the priests and tell them they had to act immediately, because their plans were known. Jesus chose the time because He had to be crucified on the Passover. When the mob came to arrest Him, it was Jesus Who told them who He was, and said to them, “If I’m the one You want, let these others go!” He protected His disciples. It was Jesus Who told Peter to sheath his sword so that the Scriptures could be fulfilled.
Jesus told Peter, “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” (Matthew 26:53)
It was Jesus Who was calling the shots all the time. He did what He had come to do, even though it cost Him hours of agony and humiliation. He accomplished the rescue mission. All we have to do is receive Him as our Lord, Savior, and King. That makes it simple. No one has to “measure up”, which is good, because we can’t, in this life. But with the Holy Spirit’s help, we can begin to let Him change us. He will, if we will allow Him to.

Kristi Ann, I was reading just now in Colossians chapter 3, verifying a verse I heard quoted in a video. In this chapter, Paul is giving practical instructions for how Christians should live, especially in fellowship with each other. Verse 14 struck me as such an echo of your posts here. Good spiritually healthy and helpful instruction for us all !
Quoting verses 12-14 to give the full flavor, but 14 is the epitome of Paul’s instruction. This is not surprising, since it echoes what King Jesus said was the second-most important commandment:
Colossians 3:12-14:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
It’s also amazing that Paul, the ultimate Pharisee, here tells those of us who are Gentiles that we also are “God’s chosen people”. I imagine that earned him a great deal of hatred from some of his fellow Jews. It is a privilege to be cherished and a name to live up to: “God’s chosen people”! Remembering that it is the Holy Spirit Who moved Paul and the other Biblical authors, we see that God Himself describes us as “holy and dearly loved”! How incredible that God loves us! He can call us holy only because He sees us as holy if we are in Christ. Christ’s righteousness has been credited to our account if we have received Him as Lord and Savior! How fantastic! How amazing!

I started reading in the Gospel of John (again) for a break from Bible prophecy, and within seconds my attention was immediately caught by two verses I’ve read many times before. This time a question arises in my mind …
“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (verse 4)
“That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” (verse 9)
What do those words mean?
“the life was the light of men.”
“the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world”
I posted this question to several former members of the Positive Heartbeat blog, and one of the women who was the mainstay of the blog sent back this answer, which is brief, clear, Biblical, and very satisfying to my soul. It’s so good I thought I’d share it with you all:

Christmas Thoughts: Promise, Silence, Announcement, Rejection, Return!
The PROMISE of Bethlehem: angels announced the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
SILENCE. For thirty or more years, as the baby became a man and the time became fully right.
ANNOUNCEMENT! John the Baptist officially announced the identity of Jesus as “the Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world.”
REJECTION! After several years of performing miracles and preaching which positively confirmed Jesus as the Messiah, He presented Himself to Israel as King in what we call “the Triumphal Entry” into Jerusalem. (Matthew 21 and John 12) The response of the Pharisees was to begin plotting Jesus’ death. They succeeded, but God accepted the sacrifice of His Son as the ultimate, final Passover Lamb for the sins of the whole world. Yours. Mine. Your neighbor’s sins. Your enemies’ sins. God demonstrated to the whole world for all time that He accepted His Son’s sacrifice as fully adequate for the sins of the world by resurrecting Jesus from the dead three days later.
“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:11-12) Question to everyone who reads this: Have you received Jesus as your Messiah and Lord? If not, will you now?
RETURN! After Jesus was resurrected and appeared to hundreds of his disciples for about forty days, He was “taken up” into Heaven in their sight. “They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’ “ (Acts 1:10-11)
HE’S COMING BACK! And the signs of the times indicate His return may be very near! Are you ready? Are you walking in faith? Take courage! Rejoice! He’s coming back! Soon!
