  4. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:28-29)

    God’s purpose is to make us like King Jesus. Paul makes a similar statement in Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

    The Greek word “conformed” in 12:2 is “syschēmatizō”, related to “schematic”. In other wors, do not accept the world’s pattern.

    The Greek word “transformed” is “metamorphoō”, meaning “to change into another form”. The form we are to change into is “the image of Christ”. THis is only possible with the power of the Holy Spirit, Who is resident within every born-again believer in Jesus.

    We have the purpose and the power. Gifts from Him Who loved us so much that He sacrificed His only Son for us. How are we to be transformed? Primarily by the written Wotrd of God. The more time we spend in His Word with intent to understand and apply, the more success we will have in becoming like King Jesus.
