Amen, Kristi! There are so many encouraging Scriptures in this post! As always, you make your post so appealing and even illustrative at the visual level, it’s a joy to see as well as to read. Thank you!
For example, that first painting of Jesus standing on the deck of a storm-tossed ship with the sailor. Neither of them is steering the boat. That’s not strange at all ! it illustrates perfectly the caption of that painting (“Through the storm our Anchor holds”) and the first verse you quoted: ( Hebrews 6:19 KJV ) “Which hope we have as an Anchor of the Soul, both sure and Stedfast, and which Entereth into that within the veil;” Like any sensible seamen, they are waiting out the storm, depending on their anchor to hold them in place so they aren’t driven against a deadly reef, swept out to sea, or turned broadside to the waves, which would be instant disaster!
Amen and praise the Lord! King Jesus is our anchor in this terrible storm. That phrase “which entereth into that within the veil” refers to the veil that hid the Holy of Holies in the Temple from eyesight. That veil was actually a very thick curtain to prevent unsanctified eyes from seeing the Holy of Holies. It was a symbolic way of saying that sinful humans can not approach God without a sacrifice for their sins. Only in that way can sinners be justified, “cleansed from all unrighteousness” (1st John 1:9), and accepted by God. The veil was tough, strong. Yet when King Jesus died on Calvary, God demonstrated that the way to Him was through Jesus, and no longer through the system of sacrifice and ritual that was the Mosaic Law. He demonstrated that by tearing that thick veil from top to bottom. No human could have accomplished that! But our hope, King Jesus, after He had offered Himself as God’s sinless, perfect Lamb Who takes away the sins of the world, He entered the Holy of Holies within the veil!
