Israeli Man Proposes with 3D Printed Ring, Fireworks, Quadcopter, and Sky Writing!!

Six months ago yesterday, I proposed to my fiance. She was up in snowy, frigid Chicago visiting family, while she thought I was here at home in Florida soaking up the sun, and basting in the 90 degree weather at the beach. A day after she left for the Windy City I hopped on a plane to do the same. With the help of her family I was able to sneak up behind her, as she stared at her reflection in the famous Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park. To her surprise, not only was it her reflection which appeared in the 91,000 square foot bean shaped metal sculpture, but my reflection was standing right next to her. The proposal followed, and the answer was ‘YES’.

Today I found out that I was totally outdone by an Israeli man name Sefi, equipped with some of the coolest technology out there today. Sefi basically took every wedding proposal cliche, combined them, and then pulled off what has to be one of the most incredible wedding proposal I have ever seen.

Sefi set out to accomplish his mission of proposing to his long time sweetheart, Tania, but wanted to do something incredible.

“I used to build things all the time to impress her, so it seems like closure to me to propose in a way that will impress her, that has to do with creating things,” stated Sefi.

The most important part of any proposal is usually the engagement ring. Instead of going out and purchasing a ring, Sefi decided to have a custom engagement ring 3D printed for Tania. With the help of some friends, he tried several different 3D printing techniques to create the ring. The technique which ended up working best was to 3D print his custom design out of wax, then make a mold of the 3D print. After the mold was created they were able to cast the ring with molten white gold. They then added a diamond for the final touch, and the ring was ready for the big day.

On one side of the ring, there is Hebrew writing which translates as ‘I will betroth you to me forever’. On the other side there is a pattern chosen by Sefi. There is also the infinity symbol incorporated into the piece.

The ring was only the start however. The venue in which he would propose was filled will all sorts of technological marvels. He had a quadcopter with led lights on hand, which was controlled remotely by a computer, a long exposure camera to capture the words which the quadcopter would spell out via the LED lights, and of course some fireworks. It took 21 people to set up and mange the entire production, and the coordination was like a military operation, according to Sefi.

Once everything was set up, he was ready to propose. Sefi got down on one knee and the rest is history. Needless to say, a wedding is now being planned. Check out the video below documenting the entire process:
