A very good message Kristi Ann, it is so easy to slip back into old habits, there was a song by Scripture in Song that had the same word’s you shared above from the Bible about loosing your first Love for the Lord, it was this song that God used to convict me that my passion for Him was dying, because of sinning, I realized it was True and I could not stop crying at the time but not long after I came to True heart repentance.
Thank you for your Love for the Lord that you are sharing with others.

How important is love for God?

One mikght think that this church was weak, living carelessly, living in sin … but wait! Look at verses 1-3 of that chapter:
“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.”
That could make a strong man faint. All that, and Jesus strongly rebukes them? Even threatens them?
Yes, because love is what keeps you going. If you love God, you’ll last longer n the spiritual battles. You’ll keep yourdelf pure. And you won’t do your works grudgingly. You won’t come across to unbelievers like an Ebenezer Scrooge, or the Grinch who stole Christmas. Love for God (OUR God) makes you more attractive to other people. That’s what God wants, because God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” If we present a slour image of God, we do Him and unbelievers a disservice.
So how do you love God? Get to know Him. How do you get to know Him? Through prayer and reading His Word, both regularly and frequently. I speak from experience. Decades ago, when I was in severe depression, I became aware (long story) that I had done God an injustice by not thanking Him for the many good things in my life. Miserable as I was then, I had many blessings from Go. When I realized that, I began to make a habit of thanking God for everything I could think of that He had done for me. after several days of doing that, I became aware that my depression was lessening. Within a year (it had been severe) the depression was gone and has never returned. Slow learner that I am, I let other things spoil my relationship with God, but thanking Himfor His blessings was the turning point. Get to know God! You will find it EASY to love Him, and your love for God will overflow into every part of your life, making it WONDERFUL! Even, LOL, when the sky is raining trouble on you!
