“For we walk by FAITH, not by Sight.” That’s right! That is, if we’re “walking as Cjristians should walk.
When WW2 ended, my Dad was still in fighter pilot training. After the war, after getting his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, he worked in the aerospace industry, first as Assistant Project Engineer on the first, unmanned, moon rockets, then in GE’s Jet Propulsion Lab. One day we were discussing the crashes of aircraft in the “Bermuda Triangle”. Dad said that one reason pilots crashed, anywhere, was that if they lose visibility, as in a storm or at night, thei bodies begin giving them false signals. They actually began to feel that their aircraft are rolling, or diving, or even climbing. It’s the same response some people in a sensory deprivation chamber get – they begin to hallucinate.

That’s why pilots who are not instrument-rated are not allowed to fly at night.
The Christian’s life has to be one of faith. The devil and demons know that humans can be easily influenced if we lose orientation. They send us false signals, like a wildly distorted and exaggerated news report I was reading last night.
I asked my Dad what to do if you’re a pilot in that situation – your body is telling you something that your instruments say is not true. His answer was simple: “Trust your instruments!”
The parallel with this life is exact. Those who are not born-again Christians do not have the necessary “instrument rating”, in fact don’t have the instrument panel. They make correct decisions about life only to the extent that they mimic the decisions of those mature Christians who have the Holy Spirit, or to the extent that their education and culture are built on Judeo-Christian principles.
Those who have been born again and do have the Holy Spirit had better learn to listen to their “instruments”. And friends, the parallel extends even further: you have to study to get instrument certified for flying. And even if you’re a Christian, you have to study God’s Word to be sure you know what it says and means!
Then do what the Word and the Holy Spirit tell you to do. IMO, the first of the things every Christian should do is to THANK GOD! that we have his Word and the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Trust your instruments!
