Thank you, Kristi, for this reminder of what we owe to our Savior. Thank you for your steadfast witness all these years. May God bless you richly. And I know He will!
King Jesus was pronounced innocent by everyone who was involved in His trials, except for the statement He made when illegally required to answer:
“And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, ‘I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!’ ”
The witnesses brought in to convict Him couldn’t agree and He was shown to be innocent of any crime or sin.
Judas, before committing suicide, declared, “I have betrayed innocent blood!” I can’t imagine the agony of regret of Judas. But he left us with another testimony to the innocence of Jesus.
In Matthew’s Gospel, when the Jews demanded that Pilate give the order to crucify Jesus, Pilate replied, “Why? What evil has He done?”
The Jews had no answer, thereby joining Pilate in again finding Him innocent.
Luke records that Pilate said bluntly, “I find no fault in this man”, and finding Jesus was a Galilean, Pilate sent Him to Herod because Galilee was in Herod’s jurisdiction.
Having intensely interrogated and beaten Jesus, Herod sent Him back to Pilate, who declared again to the Jews, “I examined this man before you, and found no fault in Him. Neither did Herod.”
When the Jews again insisted that Jesus be crucified, Pilate asked again, “Why? What evil has he done?” But in the end, afraid of Caesar’s reaction if he let Jesus go, Pilate gave the order for His crucifixion.
If you remember that Jesus was the most talked-about, sought-out public figure in all of Israel, you understand the importance of the dying thief who told his fellow criminal who blasphemed Jesus, “Don’t you fear God, since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” That thief was talking about a man whose reputation was known throughout the entire nation. The thief’s words carry as much weight as Pilate’s.
And then came the resurrection. God the Father’s indisputable testimony about King Jesus’ innocence.
MESSIAH! LORD! King of Israel and co-creator of the world! How did You manage it? How could You live a life totally free of sin? And then endure the unspeakable injustice of three corrupt trials, take their slander, their insults, their blows, and then go to the merciless death of cross, and endure until “it is finished”? I will never understand how You could do it.
Aba, Father God, how could You love us so much that You sent King Jesus on this mission, and remain silent when He begged You to find another way? I will never understand.
Cling to the old rugged cross, amen. There is no greater statement and proof of love and forgiveness anywhere in the Universe.
The cross of Jesus represents the biggest love gift ever to mankind. Thank you Father and Jesus for your great gift pf love!❤️
